It’s officially a new year, it’s time to turn the page on last year and set some goals and targets so that your hospitality business can thrive in 2018! Goal setting can seem a little daunting but it doesn’t have to be a chore, here are our handy tips for planning your year ahead.
Up Your Social Media Game
It’s more important than ever for your hospitality business to have an active social media presence to attract new bums on seats as well as keep current customers coming back for more.
You probably know what you should be doing on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Pinterest… (the list goes on!) but sometimes it’s the last thing on your mind after a busy day of service.
Don’t worry, we are here to help!
- Set social media goals and targets, ensuring that they are realistic for you. Don’t commit to saying you will post three times everyday when you don’t have any content planned, instead opt for a goal of posting every second day. Consistency is more important.
- Plan content in advance and create some social media content pillars relevant to your biz. Ensure that you are not just posting about what you are selling, make social media social and more about your brand story and personality.
- Focus on building one platform to start with instead of spreading yourself too thin. Look at your target audience, where are they hanging out? Instagram might be more suitable for a younger, inner city demographic or you may find Facebook more suitable for your business in the suburbs.

Test a New Recipe
New year, new you? Or at least a slightly improved or different you. Take this opportunity to look into new food trends or ingredients, experiment with a recipe you’ve been wanting to try out or taste test a few new products. Try setting yourself a goal and do this before the end of January.
Organise a Photoshoot
With all this newly inspired social media activity and recently developed recipes, you’re going to want to create truly drool worthy snaps for social media or your website.
Why not put your phone away and consider getting some high quality imagery taken that is going to give your dishes the full credit they deserve?
Upskill Staff
Employees are the backbone of every organisation, so you want them to be the best they can be. Look into new avenues on how you can educate and upskill your staff.
